Establishing Rapport with the Community Leaders and People

The most effective way to bring to a successful conclusion with right relations with anyone or anybody is to establish rapport with them. We have to sustain a relationship of mutual trust, harmony and understanding.

Rapport is achieved when two people can acknowledge the other person's point of view, appreciate each other's feelings, and be on the same wavelength.

Ocular Survey

We traversed the rough pavement under the heat of the sun with our uncalloused feet bathe in sunscreens. We trekked the steep pathway and hop on muddy waters during gloomy weather. Rain or shine, we pursued with our survey.

Aid, in one way or another, can transpire progress where there is good governance and it usually fail where government is unable or unwilling to commit aid to improve the lives of their people. Good governance never depends upon laws, but upon the personal qualities of those who govern, of those who sit behind the desks and works beyond the unholy hours.

The people behind progress and change,

are the ones that sit behind the desks, and work beyond the hours.

SWOT Analysis

SWOT is a structured method of planning that is used to weigh in the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Having the barangay leaders identify those marks a significant description of the community.

Pilot Testing in Argao

In order to be ascertain that our survey questionnaires are appropriate, and comprehensible. We decided to conduct a pilot test of the survey questionnaire tool, in the neighboring community, Barangay Argao. The group was welcomed and introduced to the people by the Barangay Captain. The results of the pilot testing was indeed useful, as it helped us in improving our survey questionnaire tool.

Randomization of Households

One of the effective way that will represent the entire population, with no bias is to randomize the selection of the participants. Randomization Technique is a method of randomizing subjects/participants who will be interviewed in order to reflect the population. The group utilized the 'Fish-Bowl Technique', in which the houses are numbered and written in a piece of paper, after which they are placed in a bowl and whatever number is picked, the household corresponding to it will be the participant chosen for the survey.

Initial House-House Surveying

One of the objectives was to conduct surveys, and although it was our first exposure. The group went out all the way, to meet people and build relationship with them. By being with the people, and conversing with them, we have learnt how they live their lives day to day.

Meeting with the Preceptors

Our stay wouldn't have been as fun as it is without our beloved preceptor, Dr. Ramos. All throughout the exposure, he has kept on monitoring on our activities, and making sure that we'd be safe and comfortable during our stay at Mahayag. Whenever we have some concerns on certain things, he would always try to help us out with the best he could.

Spot-Mapping

For a quick reference on the community, spot map is handy dandy. It doesn't take a scientist to conclude that creativity is a skill, it is a gift. Most but not all, are blessed to be artsy when the nature calls for it.

We conquered distance to reach them,

but not even paper could write them.
